Wrocław, the capital of Lower Silesia Voivodeship, is the fourth largest metropolitan area in Poland. The entire agglomeration has about 1.2 million inhabitants and is the third academic center in the country, with over 100 thousand students. According to Eurostat, over 35 thousand specialists related to IT are employed in our city, which means that Wrocław has all the predispositions to be a leading destination for investors from the IT industry.

In 2020, Wrocław was ranked at 171 place in the StratupBlink ranking assessing the level of startup ecosystem activity among cities around the world. This assessment was based on both the number of startups and the quality of the business ecosystem. According to Startup Poland, the authors of the report “The Polish Tech Scene. 5 Years ”, there are nearly 150 startups in Wroclaw focused mainly on business analytics, big data, and artificial intelligence as well as industry 4.0. In terms of Big Data and AI, Wrocław is the second center for startups in Poland.

Our Universities
Universities located in the city have a great impact on the development of the technology industry in Wrocław. Currently, most students from IT and related fields are associated with the Wrocław University of Technology, the University of Economics, and the University of Wrocław. Also private universities, such as the SWPS, University of Banking and the University of Lower Silesia, open more and more IT-related courses. Starting from the year 2020, Coventry University is operating in Wrocław. The capital of Lower Silesia became an attractive center for students and professionals not only from Poland but also from abroad.

Wrocław University of Science and Technology was established in 1945. One of the largest and best technical universities in the country.

Last year UWr has completed over 430 research projects both international and domestic.

The Wroclaw University of Economics and Business is ranked among the top economic schools of higher education in Poland, and an important centre of science and research.

The history of Wroclaw Medical University dates back to 1811. In 2002, the Faculty received the PE-EN ISO 9001 certificate for its educational and research programs in accordance with standards defined by the Polish Centre for Testing and Certification.
